Anyone who has watched the Grand Designs Australia TV show admires the commitment of the homeowners as they deal with the ups and downs of creating a brilliant home lifestyle.

Behind those Clients are the Professionals – Architects and Builders – who are managing the process as each project comes to life. Grand Designs Australia Magazine are launching the House of the Year Award, to recognise the work of those Professionals in making Client dreams come true.

What’s different about the Grand Designs Australia Magazine House of the Year Awards?

This program is a competition designed to spotlight Professionals as the primary players in delivering brilliant Client outcomes for housing projects around Australia.

The emphasis is on Client outcomes – this program seeks to see how the project has successfully facilitated the desires of the Client and to tell the best of those stories to an interested audience.  We are looking for houses that facilitate the lifestyles of the families that live in them.

In the real-world practice of delivering brilliant Client outcomes, design must take cues from Client desires and expectations have to be managed.  There is a real challenge in delivering what the Client wants, in the available location, on budget.  This is a program that celebrates cases where the right balance has been achieved.

Entry is easy, free and online at www.houseoftheyear.com.au

Only Professionals can enter, although there is facility for homeowners who are particularly happy with their projects to nominate a Professional who will be followed-up for entry.

Promotion of Finalists

Eight (8) finalists in the program will be selected at the end of June 2021 and featured in Grand Designs Australia Magazine and associated digital media assets throughout the year.

A winner will be selected in March 2022 and named Grand Designs Australia Magazine House of the Year.

Both the Finalists and the Winner will be part of a promotional campaign that shows their capabilities.  Our mission is to make sure that anyone who is building a dream home in the next two years hears about the exemplary work of this community.
