Renovations Hit All Time High Across Australia Despite Coronavirus
Australia is in the midst of a home-improvement frenzy, with the number of people undertaking major home renovations hitting an all-time high according to this commentary from Domain.com.au on the latest ABS data. In 2019, the value put on major renovation works was $8.49 billion, compared to 2018’s already skyrocketing $8.43 billion. Many of last year’s approvals will relate to work that gets underway in 2020, keeping the renovation trend bubbling along, despite the hit to the economy of the coronavirus. The total renovation expenditure in 2019 – including more minor renovations – has been put by the Australian Bureau of Statistics at $36.3 billion.
